Ice Spice and Nicki Minaj teamed up for a remix of Ice Spice’s single, “Princess Diana.” Nicki Minaj added a fierce verse to the RiotUSA-produced beat and original verses from Ice Spice's debut EP, Like..?. The music video was released on April 14 and features both artists in a pink Barbie-like doll set, twerking in lingerie. The song is about their wealth, success, and social media influence and also references their romantic relationships with gangsters.
This remix is the first release on Nicki Minaj's new record label, Heavy on It, in partnership with Ice’s label, 10K Projects. This is the first time the two artists have collaborated, and it is not known whether they will continue to work together in the future. The original version of “Princess Diana” was released on Ice Spice’s EP, Like..?, in January. The EP came out before the chart-topping track "Boy's a Liar Pt." by PinkPantheress.
On the remix, Nicki raps, “I be eatin’ my spinach (Spinach), they tried to clone my image (image) / They burned they London Bridges (Bridges), none of them bitches British (no).” She also praises Ice Spice and refers to her as the princess. She raps, “Nowadays, I be makin’ ’em famous (Grrah) / She the princess, so fuck who you lames is? (Grrah).” The collaboration is one that fans have been hoping for since Nicki endorsed Ice Spice on social media.
Nicki Minaj has often hesitated to endorse up-and-coming female rappers. However, she has expressed her support to Ice Spice, This shows that she believes Ice Spice has the talent and star power to make it big. Minaj previously endorsed Ice Spice by quoting lyrics from the original song on social media, and she also praised her as “The People’s Princess.” The release of the remix has garnered a lot of attention, with fans excited to see the two artists come together to create a hit song.
