Tomorrow X Together in “Sugar Rush Ride”
TXT, also known as Tomorrow X Together, has made their comeback with the release of their new EP, "The Name Chapter: TEMPTATION," on Friday, January 27th, 2023. The EP features their latest hit single “Sugar Rush Ride,” a dance track with a catchy whistle hook and funky guitar rhythm that tells a story about a boy who succumbs to the temptations of a devil. The music video for the song has reached 21 million views and 1.2M likes on YouTube in just two days.
The group, consisting of SOOBIN, YEONJUN, BEOMGYU, TAEHYUN, and HUENINGKAI, signed to Big Hit Entertainment, debuted in March 2019 with "The Dream Chapter: Star" and have since released a total of 11 albums, winning many awards such as Best Asia Act at the 2022 MTV EMAS and Hero of the Year at the 2022 BandLab NME Awards. Their third studio album "The Chaos Chapter: FREEZE" entered the Billboard 200 chart at Number 5, and they became the third male K-pop group to chart an album for nine consecutive weeks on the chart. Their latest EP "minisode 2: Thursday's Child" debuted at Number 4 on the Billboard 200 and charted for many weeks. They are considered as K-Pop's 4th generation and Gen Z "It Boys" and their fans, known as MOA (Moment of Alwaysness), adore the group and its message of love and youthfulness.
The new EP continues to follow the group's journey as they approach adulthood, despite obstacles and sweet temptations. The band members had been teasing their comeback with dreamy teasers, one of them being inspired by Peter Pan's Neverland. The music video of "Sugar Rush Ride" follows the band members in different locations like a beach, a forest, a lake, a field, and a darker setting, and includes references to Neverland, the fictional island in Peter Pan associated with eternal childhood, to show how the boys temporarily gave in to their temptations before “they thrust it away”. The group had a huge year as they became the first K-Pop group to perform at Lollapalooza in July 2022 and performed at Disneyland for Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin Eve to ring in 2023.
The group will begin their second world tour, "ACT: SWEET MIRAGE," in March. This tour will give fans the opportunity to experience their music live and see the group's creative process and what temptations they give in to the most. With the release of "The Name Chapter: TEMPTATION" and their upcoming tour, TXT continues to solidify their place in the K-Pop scene and their fans are eagerly awaiting to see what they have in store for the future.
